Day 17 - Thank you ceremony with Homestay Families

The last full day in Chieri saw a tradition of the St Joseph's College Italy trip - the Thank You Ceremony for the hosting home stay families. Hosted at San Luigi, the Salesian school we had visited a couple of days before, representatives from each family attended.

The afternoon began with some words of thanks from Mrs Bamford, followed by a speech on behalf of the students delivered - in Italian - by Liam Francis. The speech was heartfelt and sincere, and Liam gained many compliments from the many Italians and Italian speakers in the room for his smooth and articulate delivery.

Following this, each student thanked his homestay family, presenting them with flowers and a small gift from the school. There were many hugs as this occurred and some tears, with the affection that had grown between student and family clearly evident to all present.

Following the ceremony, each of the families spoke glowingly about the boys an, especially, about what they had brought to their families. Many asked to host students on a subsequent trip, such was the impression our boys made.
